Audio Technica

This is from ElectricPig.com: "You’ve had earache from headphones before, right? They dig into your skull, or cause that nasty pain in your lugholes. Unless you grab a pair of Audio Technica’s top notch cans, that is. Their Wing Support Housing design keeps weight off your ears, without putting pressure on your head. It’s hard to explain, but very effective. The headphones feel as if they’re floating on your noggin, and it’s immensely comfortable. Add to that the ATH-W5000’s ebony design and you’ve got a winning set of closed-back cans. They’re the finest we’ve ever heard, albeit at a price." Great writing. I am wondering if it is real wood.

It seems a little counter intuitive strapping pieces of Princess Leia buns of wood to your head and yet getting to experience sound via a floating sensation instead of the normal headphone headache. Heck, if these do what they say, I have been looking for these things all my life. Being a woman and as vain as I am, I sure hope they sound great, 'cause man, I am going to look ridiculous. Already, I am the only one still jogging with headphones vs. the chic make-you-deaf-by-50 earbuds. What can I say, I value my hearing, great sound and the only head pounding I want is from my sick penchant for 80s hairbands, not the 'phones. Thanks, Aaron for bringing these to my attention, I am sure it will be a nice addition to the reason why I still find myself single (who am I kidding, it's got to be the hairband thing - I am simply a boob job and 9 tatts away from Rock of Love 3, look for me - I'll be the one with the wood headphones.)

They are a little princess Leia! Good call. I would not worry about it though. I think there are probably a lot of people out there that find that look very appealing. Even if they are not sure why.

I question the wood grain too. I think that they sell for around $700 and at that price point I am not sure what would be weirder; for them to be fake wood or real wood. Also, it is probably a sign that I am not with the current trends but maple or birch still seem higher end to me then walnut or wenge or whateever this is supposed to be. I am certain they did this so that they could look different from all the other people doing the faux aluminum or faux carbon fiber. Probably a good idea but I am not sure this was the right direction. But hey, at least it is not that hideous BMW burl.

As for the hair band thing, I hear that they are coming back with 18-20 year olds. What exactly are YOU talking about? Because to me there is a big difference between VH and Ratt. Lastly, have you heard the new Robert Plant/Allison Kraus CD?

Yes, I do have that CD - a small saving grace to counteract my HB sensibilities. Picked up that CD at the Starbucks counter, and I like you, would go to Starbucks for 1. the food and 2. a fine new music selection for a "treat-myself-purchase" - literally that one,two combination was why I would go at least once a week......I had know idea they were doing away with my beloved snacks - I was right there with you on the egg salad. Funny enough the mere fact that the only two Starbuck's in VB didn't carry the "food line" caused me to halt my Starbuck's visits altogether......I then had to trade my "treat myself pick me up" to a walk at the ocean which quite frankly will be better for my waistline and pocketbook. I guess it's a good thing those headphones are faux wood, less chance of corrosion by the salt air!
