Eastern Bloc

I was just in a conversation about how American manufacturing is dead. Dave, let me introduce you to Smith & Wesson's M&P15R, chambered for the Russian 5.45x39mm cartridge. According to Guns & Ammo it features a 16-inch barrel with chrome-lined bore, chamber, bolt carrier and gas key. The flash suppressor is A2 military. The upper and lower receivers are fabricated from 7075 T6 aluminum, manufactured in the U.S. by an independent contractor to S&W specs. The machining, fit-matching and assembly of parts are done by hand in S&W's own plant. The single-stage trigger is factory set for a maximum break weight of seven pounds. It comes standard with sling swivels, a six-position tactical-style collapsible stock and a hard plastic case. The hardcoat black anodized finish is satin smooth, with a much finer texture than most AR rifles on the market. Pretty impressive, but they ought to work on the naming.
