View from the hallway

Our bedroom window looks out into a marina but a window in the hallway has this great view of the pool. Ian prefers the hot tub that is just out of view on the upper left. It is not all that hot but it is right on the sand and is a great place to watch people walking the beach. During the day the hot tub is really more of a kiddie pool, today it had about 10 kids under seven in it all afternoon.

Superman

Ian picked out this new Superman hat in Charlotte today on our way to the beach. It came pre-distressed which he seemed to really like along with the camo color palette. He fell asleep at 7:00pm tonight, our first night, so he must have had a fun first day.He originally wanted to get a Buffalo Bills hat but "Lids" did not have any. I think that Ian has been following the draft and is excited to see the Bills finally get a tight-end into the action so he was bummed about not being able to show his support. But, as the picture shows he rebounded well.

Vanderbeek?

Karl, You must be freelancing on the side because this has your chair design from '97 written all over it...unless perhaps it is an homage?

Another RW

Another great example, although I think that this would have been better in plastic without the modeling or the sheen it is still a sight. BTW, I think that I have to mention Mr. John Killar, he was the one who first introduced me to Russel Wright and I imagine he still has an impressive collection. Thank Killar.

Residential

I have several pieces in a variety of colors so I think I can say that the Russel Wright's Residential collection is one of those designs that holds up in your hands as nicely as it does in a photo. I wonder what it was like to create such a lasting work that people would appreciate forever. When I see these products, watch a great movie, visit an exception building, etc. I wonder if the people creating these things had any perspective on the longevity of their creation.

XC60 Crossover

While really interestingly detailed and strongly proportioned I think that this is a good example of what happens when designers that do not know and love the brand try to get in and change the identity to fit their design vision rather than the other way around. There are LOTS of great things going on here but is it what you want when you buy a Volvo...or a Mazda? Maybe I need to see it in person.

Aperion Audio

If you are in the market for speakers you have got to check these out. They ship the same day online, look great and have an unbelievable sound that is way better than what you will find with most of the retail or direct market brands. You will love them and they are also affordable. They also have the most friendly, helpful staff you can imagine. Thanks Don!
